Beef schnitzel (20 minute meal!)

This simple beef schnitzel uses minute or “sizzle” steak, cutting down your cooking time. By pounding the meat super thin, you’re left with tender, crunchy schnitzel the whole family will love.

The breadcrumbs are seased with mixed herbs and garlic powder, creating an yummy Italian style crumb.

I served these up with my maple glazed carrots – here is the seasoning and instructions in case you want to serve them up too.

  1. Pound the steaks thin and tender

For best results, pound your minute/sizzle steaks thin with a mallet. I really recommend this step, as it tenderises the meat and ensures its soft and easy to eat, not chewy and hard to swallow.

  2. Prepare your crumbing station

Get three wide bowls out and a plate. In one bowl, whisk three eggs. In another, add your plain flour. In the last, add your breadcrumbs with mixed herbs and garlic poweder - stir to combine.

  3. Crumb your steak

Crumb your steak by first pressing into flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs. Shake of the excess flour, egg and breadcrumbs in each step.

  4. Heat oil and fry steaks

Add vegetable oil - around 1-2 cups - to a deep fry pan over medium heat. Let your oil heat for 3-4 minutes. Add your steaks in 2-3 at a time, so you don't overcrowd your pan. Cook for 2 minutes each side, or until deeply golden brown.

  5. Serve

Serve your schnitzels with veggies, salad, or enjoy as part of a sandwhich.
